Original Run: Sunday, December 21, 2025 – Sunday, December 28, 2025
Hi everyone!
We’re now heading into Week 15 of the #W2DTogether drawing challenge. As always, the goal stays the same: reduce art block, give you a clear starting point, and help you keep drawing regularly without the pressure of perfection.
This week’s challenge is a little more introspective. Instead of looking outward for inspiration, you’re going to look back at your own journey.
If you are new here and want to catch up, check out all the previous challenges here.
The Challenge
Challenge number 15: Redraw an Old Drawing
If you’ve been drawing for a while, chances are you have old sketches sitting in a sketchbook, a folder, or on your phone. Some you like, some you don’t, and some you might barely remember doing. That is exactly what this challenge is about!
Even if you are brand new to drawing, this still works, you don’t need years of progress to see a change. Even a few weeks or months can show a shift in your “eye” or your technique.
The Task: Choose one of your old drawings and redraw it today. The subject should stay the same. The goal isn’t to reinvent the idea, but to revisit it with the skills and habits you have now.
Two Ways to Approach It:
-
Current Style: Redraw it using your current signature style.
-
Skill Comparison: Redraw it as accurately as possible to the original to highlight your technical improvement.
Why This Challenge Matters
-
Visualize Progress: Sometimes we feel like we aren’t getting better, but seeing an old piece next to a new one is the best way to prove otherwise.
-
Low Pressure: You already have the idea and the composition—now you just have to focus on the execution!
-
Motivation: Seeing how far you’ve come (even in just a few weeks) is a powerful way to stay inspired.
The Rules
-
Must be YOUR drawing.
-
Medium: Drawings only (pencil, pen, colored pencils, markers, or digital). No paintings.
-
No AI art.
-
Comparison: You should post the old drawing next to the new one so the evolution is visible!
-
All skill levels welcome.
