Drawing Challenge #14: One Country, One Drawing

Hi everyone!

It’s already been 14 weeks since we started the #W2DTogether drawing challenge! The goal has stayed the same from the beginning: to help you get rid of art block, always give you something to draw, and provide a space to express yourself through art in a fun, low-pressure way.

Each week is a starting point, just enough direction so you don’t have to stare at a blank page. If this challenge helps you pick up a pencil even once a week, it’s doing its job!

The Challenge

Challenge number 14: One Country, One Drawing

This week, we’re shifting our focus from sound to place. Your task is to draw a representation of a country. It can be your own country, a place you love, or a country you dream of visiting one day.

The Creative Goal: The idea isn’t just to draw a map or a flag. The goal is representation. What defines that country to you?

Your Own Country: You can go deep and personal. A street you know well, a daily scene, or a symbol that feels obvious to you but might be unique to others.
A Country You Dream of Visiting: Focus on what attracts you to it. Is it a specific landmark, a city, a landscape, or a cultural element?

Whether your drawing is expressive, detailed, symbolic, or observational, there is no single right approach. The goal is to visually translate how you see that country.

How to Approach It

First Instinct: What is the very first image that comes to mind when you think of the country you’ve chosen?
Beyond the Tourist Spots: If you live there, try to draw a “hidden gem” or a local atmosphere that captures the country’s spirit better than a famous landmark would.
Atmosphere: Think about the colors and lighting that represent that place; perhaps it will help you with your piece in general.

The Rules

Must be YOUR drawing.
Medium: Drawings only (pencil, pen, colored pencils, markers, or digital). No paintings.
No AI art.
The Core Task: Choose one country and make one drawing that clearly represents it through your perspective.
All skill levels welcome.
