Hi everyone! How are you guys doing? :)
Are you ready for this week’s drawing challenge? For #W2DTogether number 11, we’re going beyond a single illustration and stepping into the world of storytelling. This makes the challenge more engaging and gives you plenty of room to experiment with layout and pacing.
If you are new here and want to see our journey so far, check out all the previous challenges here.
The Challenge
Challenge number 11: Create a Comic or Manga Page
This week is all about storytelling. Your mission is to draw at least one page of a comic or manga—the choice is yours!
The Creative Goal: A comic page allows you to show movement, emotion, and time passing. It can be about anything:
-
An original character you’ve been developing.
-
A fictional moment from a story you love.
-
Something funny or dramatic that happened to you recently.
-
A short action sequence or a quiet, atmospheric scene.
The style and layout are completely up to you. Whether you want to do a classic 4-panel strip or a dynamic manga-style spread, go for it!
Tips for Storytelling
-
Panel Flow: Think about how the reader’s eye moves from the first panel to the last.
-
Dialogue/Text: You can include speech bubbles, narration, or make it a “silent” comic where the art tells the whole story.
-
Vary Your Shots: Try using different angles—a close-up for emotion, or a wide shot to show the setting.
The Rules
-
Must be YOUR drawing.
-
Medium: Drawings only (pencil, pen, colored pencils, markers, or digital). No paintings.
-
No AI art.
-
Required Element: You must share at least one completed Comic or Manga page.
-
All skill levels welcome.
