Drawing Challenge #07: The Weight We Carry

#W2DTogether Challenge #7

Original Run: Sunday, October 26, 2025 – Sunday, November 2, 2025

Hello hello artists!

We’re back with another drawing challenge this week! 🙂 I’m really glad I started this series. It’s been amazing to see so many artists turn these prompts into such creative works. But what I love most is how it’s helping people who want to draw but often don’t know where to start.

This is already Challenge #7, which means it’s been seven weeks since we began. Time really does fly! It’s time for a new #W2DTogether challenge… and this one is going to feel personal.

If you are new here and want to see our journey so far, check out all the previous challenges here.

The Challenge

Challenge number 7: “The Weight We Carry”

We all carry weight. The things that happened to us. The pressure to make money, to study, to succeed, or to make people proud. The expectations, regrets, and responsibilities… they pile up quietly and somehow get heavier as we grow older.

How to start: Before you pick up your pencil, take a moment to write down your “weight” on a piece of paper. List everything that’s been sitting on your mind or heart lately: thoughts, burdens, memories, or fears.

Then, choose one or several things from that list and turn them into art.

The Creative Goal: You can show that “weight” symbolically or literally. It could be a person carrying something invisible, a scene that represents pressure, or an abstract piece full of emotion. What matters is honesty; use your drawing to show your real feelings.

Inspiration: 14 Reference Images

If you feel stuck, I’ve gathered 14 reference images to help spark an idea. Feel free to use them as a direct reference or just as a springboard for your own imagination.

What You Can Draw

There is no single right way to represent weight, but here are some directions:

  • Symbolic: A person struggling under a pile of heavy objects (books, clocks, stones).

  • Literal: A figure in a posture that shows exhaustion or being “weighed down.”

  • Abstract: Using dark colors, heavy lines, or cramped spaces to convey pressure.

  • Hopeful: Showing the moment someone begins to let go of that weight.

The Rules

  • Must be YOUR drawing.

  • Medium: Drawings only (pencil, pen, colored pencils, markers, or digital). No paintings.

  • No AI art.

  • The Core Task: Turn your personal thoughts or burdens into a visual form.

  • All skill levels welcome.
